Commodities Due for a Short-Term Bounce

I am sure that most of you were privy to sharp decline in the commodities sector. Silver led the way with the iShares Silver Trust Fund (NYSE: SLV) losing 31.1% of its value in five trading sessions. The decline was sharp and aggressive sold. Sellers came out in full force, but now I would not be surprised to see a short-term bounce before the selling resumes. However, I will not try to catch a falling knife with this one. The RSI (2) for silver (SLV) stands at 18.8, not even close to trigger a signal in my proprietary trading strategy. Although, I do have my eye on two ETFs for early next week. The Oil Services (OIH) and Peru (EPU). Both have taken tumbles as of late and are nearing an area of entry. The iShares FTSE China 25 Index Fund (FXI) and the WisdomTree India Earnings FUnd (EPI) have RSI (2) readings of o.51 and 0.54, respectively. Another Good Trade, Another Good Month – Options Strategy Continues to Succeed

The High-Probability, Mean-Reversion Strategy continued its success today as the strategy triggered another good trade. This time it was the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY). SPY moved into a short-term extreme state on Friday so I purchased a few puts per the strategy guidelines. Today, I was able to sell them for a decent 7.6% return. So far, after only one trade the strategy is up 5.6% for the month of May. Another trade like today and the strategy will certainly exceed April's 10.5% gain. Year-to-date the HPMR options strategy is up 37.7% . Check out the results. The two two decline in the S&P falls right in line with the "sell in May" phenomenon that occurs during this time of year. Will it be this easy? The market has looked … [Read more...]
